Chad grew up in Minneapolis and spent his summers, like many Minnesotans, “at the cabin”. As a young man Chad enjoyed fishing, boating, and running. In 2008, he joined the Army where he rediscovered a passion for adventure, the outdoors, and education. After leaving the Army, he attended Vermilion Community College where he completed the Outdoor Leadership Program. Chad is now pursuing a bachelors in Outdoor Education at UMD. In the last few years, he has developed a real love for paddling, hiking, and running. And yes, like most of the other employees here, he has a deep appreciation for good beer.
Chad holds current certifications as a Wilderness First Responder, EMT, and Red Cross Provider Level CPR.

Nick's fascination with Duluth's natural history started at an early age, when he explored Duluth's unique geology and topography. After relocating to Duluth in 2005, Nick began an in-depth study of the connection between the Great Lakes waterway and early settlement by Native American and European populations. His interest in the region's history was borne out of a deep admiration for the area, the lake, and its people. Nick is eager to continue to dig deeper into these subjects and share the resources and information he compiles with The Duluth Experience's guests. Nick is an accomplished marathon runner and a wicked good disc golfer.

Bud is a Duluth native - and proud of it! Like many young Duluthians, Bud left town shortly after graduating from high school in 2000 and moved out west to participate in the Americorps program in Sacramento, California. Bud traveled the west coast for a number of years and worked on a variety of civil service projects before moving back to Minnesota to study Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Following his dreams, Bud went on to help organize a bunch of running events around the country... but his home was always Duluth. Now he's back to help introduce folks to the local craft beer scene. Bud has over 13 years of experience in the restaurant industry and has a deep love for craft beer and good whiskey. In his free time, Bud enjoys biking and hiking with his dog Blizzard.
Dennis spends his winters in Florida and drives for The Duluth Experience History Tours during the summer. But don't let the title "Driver" fool you... Dennis is a wealth of Duluth history knowledge and has many a story to tell during the tour. He and his wife Kay are long-time friends of Dave's parents and he always makes sure to drop off plenty of Bent Paddle beer when he visits... pretty much the ideal Team Member!

Chase grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and moved to Superior in 2013. Having studied the art and science of home brewing in Michigan and eager to learn more about brewing, Chase quickly connected with Duluth's Northern Ale Stars Homebrewer's Guild
. As Minnesota's oldest homebrew club, the "Ale Stars" have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in its membership and history. Chase threw himself into the local brewing scene - earning his BJCP certification as a beer judge and entering local homebrew competitions whenever possible, and
making a lot of friends in the professional brewing scene here in Duluth along the way! A chemical engineer by trade, Chase has a passion for the process of brewing. When he isn't homebrewing, Chase is fishing, foraging, or sitting in a tree stand. Chase is a certified beer judge under the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP).
